Change of Scenery. Change of Pace. Creative Diary.
Hello. It’s the start of June and we’ve been busy settling into our new city centre studio space within the glorious Hatrack building. Words can’t describe how much we love this special place. With the much welcome change of scenery we thought we would start writing some creative diary entries again, with some random ramblings and goings on behind the scenes at Jamhot.
At the moment, we’re trying to stay off any and all social media for the most part so we thought our own website might be the best place to pop some info about what we’ve been up to rather than on social, just like we used to do when we started the studio back in 2008. There are a couple of reasons for this, the main one being that we all feel creatively re-charged after the studio move and so are channelling all of our energies into creating work for our amazing clients rather than spending time consuming all of the never ending social content beamed to us each and every day. The change of studio feels like it's the ideal time to change up some other old habbits & routines too.
It’s also because, rather excitingly, we’re working on our own brand and website - with some changes that we will launch to the world later this year. As a small studio, we’ve been so busy with client projects over the last two years that we have not managed to find the time to pop any of this work up on our website, work that we are immensely proud of. The backlog we have means it’s now time to focus on it and do the work justice, which as we all know is a very time consuming thing to achieve.
So that’s exactly what we are doing, and this along with the studio move has been such a welcome change - both of pace and of place.
We also realised how much we’ve been running at full speed since Jan, with no time to look up or around. The new studio move has given us some new perspectives on things and over the last few weeks we’ve turned down a few project offers so that we can take our foot off of the gas a little and focus on developing the studio itself - something we never seem to have the time to do.
Doing this feels scary. Turning down work is something that you never want to do, especially during fairly challenging economic times, but it just feels like the right thing for us at the moment so we’re giving it a bash - time will tell whether it was the right thing to do, we hope that it is.
So while we’re going to be a little quieter on social, we’ll do our best to keep this creative diary up to date as a little outlet for some writing and a documentation of what’s going on at Jamhot as we develop the studio over the summer months.
Whatever you might be up to at the moment, we send you happy vibes from the attic of The Hatrack.
