Hello Noah. Creative Diary.

This last week we were hosting a very special visitor - as Craig's son Noah joined us to work in the studio. Noah's a very creative fellow, who loves creating stop motion animations and writing creative stories. So it was an absolute pleasure to have him with us for the week.

On the first hour of the first day, we all sat down for our Monday studio meeting to run through the work for the week and chat about the status of various projects. After listening intently to the chat for a little while - Noah pipes up of offer some welcome wisdom:

'There's far too much talking in here. You should focus on doing things instead.'

It was like we were being visited by a young Yoda, imparting nuggets of wisdom for us use. So we wrapped up the meeting faster than perhaps we would usually, and set about making & creating.

Noah's week was an adventure, he got to attend a video shoot for Manorview Hotels for a full day - commenting that is was a bit boring towards the end. I think a lot of that was perhaps down to the fact that we totally forgot to order any lunch in - so the poor fellow had to exist on a couple of bags of crisps, a can of coke and a little mini muffin. Sorry Noah (oh, and sorry to Kirsin from Manorview too).

We also enjoyed a visit to VFX and Animation studio Revenant in Finneston, a huge thanks to Kev and the team for taking some time out to show Noah what you were working on.

In between working on all of that activity, Noah was busy working on some design ideas, inputting on some of the work that we were doing and hopefully having a good time. At the end of the week, we carried out the most important task - a trip to Forbidden Planet in town so that Noah could spend his hard earned wages on some nice things.

During the week we had been posting up some images to twitter, and at the end of the week we asked any of the folk who had been watching Noah's adventure with interest a little question...

- If you could give Noah one piece of advice for developing a creative career what would it be…

And here are some of the great replies that we received:

'Don't give up what you love!'
- Poked Studio

'Embrace failure! Learn from your mistakes and move on. Failing gets a bad rep, but it’s such a good teacher.'
- Liam

See the thing that seems really pointless to everyone else but makes you feel really happy inside, keep doing that over and over. Find the other people it makes happy and become friends with them and enjoy the thing together. Don't worry about making it a job.
- Panda

If things ever get overwhelming, don't lose heart. Take it one step, one task at a time. Especially at a young age, concentrate on the basics and the things your passionate about and the rest will follow. Don't take the weight of the world on your shoulders.
- Craig

'Be yourself.'
- Ray

'Give every project your best effort.'
- Craig

'Don't be afraid to ask questions.'
- Rob

'Perfect is the enemy of good. Just make stuff and you’ll eventually get better and better.'
- Ian

'There’s a fine line between a genius idea and a really crazy one. The best colleagues will help you run right up to it, and not jump over.'
- Judy

'Appreciate the creativity in EVERYTHING.'
- Anthony

Thank you to everyone who replied and liked Noah's posts. It means a lot to us all.

Noah now returns to complete the last few weeks of P7 before starting high school for the first time after the summer holidays. We wish him all the best and can't wait to see him back in the Jamhot studio soon - creating & designing up a storm.
