How Not To Run A Design Studio. Creative Workshop.

Last night we had the privilege of teaming up with The Design Kids in Glasgow for an intimate creative event talking about our experience running the studio over the last 11 years.

The event was made even more special, as it was held on the site of our very first studio - upstairs at The Finnieston bar. A cosy space above a pub that used to house our wee studio and the awesome experimental music store Volcanic Tongue. The rooms have now been turned into a bar and events space. It was a very strange feeling to be hosting an event in a place where we spent many days (and late nights) trying to get our studio off the ground back in 2008 at a time when we didn't really have a clue what we were doing. Good times!

We have lots of fond memories of that time, including the crazy Glasgow/Russian society running a cafe under our studio and a host of writers and artists who used to come and go from the two tiny studio rooms up the stairs.

Thanks to The Design Kids for inviting us along, and to everyone who came out to hear us chat about the things we have learned (and some of the things we haven't) while runing the studio. It was a pleasure to meet so many talented and enthusiastic emerging designers - Glasgow's creative future looks pretty bright with such enthusiastic folk about.
