May '26. Creative Diary.
Hello there.
The end of May is upon us, so it's time for a little update from the Jamhot studio.
This month has been a busy one with a lot of design work in the studio. We've been busy putting the finishing touches to two big projects we've been working on for the last few months, one of which will launch in June, the other July. It's always exciting when projects you have been beavering away on for quite a while get to see the light of day so it's fair to say that we're looking forward to both getting out and about.
We popped tickets for Gab 43 on sale last week and thanks to all the amazing support the event sold out with 5 hours - something we're massively grateful for.
It's degree show time, and we've made it along to two shows so far - one at Glasgow Caledonian University and the other at City of Glasgow College. Both shows had some really impressive work on show, and it was nice to get out and about to meet some of the new graduates for a chat.
Last Friday saw us through in Edinburgh for the day, kicking off a new brand project that we'll be working on over the Summer months. It's a really interesting one for a social enterprise - the opportunity to do some lovely work we hope.
In other news, we celebrated 1 year in our Hatrack studio space. Well when we say celebrated - we got a sign for the door.
Last week we visited our friends at The Queen's Hall in Edinburgh (a past brand client) to do some filming for a current brand client. It was so nice to get back and see Emma and the team and we're looking forward to popping back to see a few gigs soon.
We've also been busy planning some trips on the CalMac network - as we plan to visit some more Scottish islands as part of our work for the brand. Planning for the new season at Tron Theatre is well underway, as is our work with Cryptic and their amazing Sonica arts festival that will be held in Glasgow this September.
We've been enjoying the recent warm weather, but it has meant that the studio has been pretty toasty - guess that's a slight drawback about being in an attic space with a metal roof. At least we can always pop out to a nearby beer garden for a pint... it's a good excuse to do so.
Looking forward to June, we're delighted to be heading to Brilmingham Design Festival in a couple of weeks to give a talk, and we're looking forward to catching some other talks while we're down there for a couple of days. We've also got a couple of video shoots coming up this month as well as the joy of welcoming 4 x emerging young designers from last year's INTL festival to the studio for work placements.
Ok, think that's about it for now. Onwards we go.
