Serving 6. The Mick Cooke Lunch Club Society.

This was a good week, the first where we had two servings of The Mick Cooke Lunch Club Society.

Today we were joined by our friend David Freer from the excellent Glasgow design studio O Street. David is based down in London these days so it's been a little while since we caught up, and it was very nice to see him.

We'll start with David's kind gift, delicious cakes from the Cottonrake bakery near their studio. Blueberry poppy seed muffins with a tasty cream frosting top. We enjoyed a piece of this action with a coffee to finish things off.

Main lunch course wise, David brought a very tasty sandwich. We totally forgot to ask where it came from as we were too busy admiring the muffins. Craig had a potato and leek soup, Jamie enjoyed 'some kind of wrap' and Graeme had a familiar salad from Sprigg.

The juice of the day was Irn-Bru, with some plates of poppadom crisps. We realised at the end of the lunch we forgot to put out the little chocolate bits we had purchased (sorry David) so these might be munched later on this afternoon.

The chat covered off quite a few areas. We spoke about Ai and current and future effects on the industry, and some of the opportunities that it presents for creative companies. It was a good discussion. Music was discussed, playing in bands and recent gigs. Some drum chat too. We chatted about pitching and running a design studio, climate protests and a particular highlight was the talk of working in different countries and cultures with some great stories shared.

We agreed that the next meet up would be over a pint. And as this was mentioned at a previous lunch we might have a pub edition. Jamie did point out that as it was us that made up the rules of lunch club, it should be possible to table an amendment to them. We noted that this needs further discussion, perhaps in consultation with Mick Cooke.

And speaking of the main man himself, we have another lunch in the diary with THE ACTUAL MICK COOKE. We are looking forward to this, but we have to admit to being a bit nervous incase Mick wants us to put a stop to the lunch club or incase he maybe doesn't like his face in the middle of the logo we designed (in 5 mins) - but we realise that it might also be the case that Mick is simply just coming up for lunch. We will report back in due course.

We also reaslied that we forgot to give David a Mick Cooke badge (sticker) and that we still have to deliver some of these to Lindsay & Danielle from Tron Theatre. We shall remedy both of these injustices.

Apologies for the weirdly cropped image above, we forgot to take a photo and David thankfully remembered just as he was leaving the studio, and returned for a quick snap. Craig took a swift portrait selfie on his phone, and the landscape crop above is as good as it gets.

More lunches soon. Watch this space (and look out for Mick's face).
