The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Brand & Design Work.

Some more new brand & deisgn work launching this week, this time for The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Shining a light on the people behind the profession.

When we were approached by the prestigious education institution The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh asking if we were up for the challenge of helping to recharge & reinvigorate the identity of one of the world’s leading medical colleges, established over 500 years ago in 1505, we jumped at the chance.

Since then it’s been an incredible journey learning about all things surgical on our way to developing a brand refresh that included a new custom font design, updated visual identity with full brand guidelines & toolkits, messaging development, campaign materials and production for animation, photography & illustration - alongside designing a range of publications and campaign materials to help launch the new visual style to the world.

One of our favourite parts of the work, was getting to create a series of campaign shots that put some of the word’s leading surgeons under the spotlight, setting them at the heart of the brand & reinforcing their global reputation as ‘The Friendly College.’ Thanks to Photographer Reuben Paris for his excellent work bringing the campaign shots to life.

It was an honour for Jamhot to be able to help shape the future of this amazing organisation, one of several big brand projects that we’ve had the privilege of working on in the studio this year. Thanks to Neil, Kerrie, Jan, Aaron and all of the college staff, office bearers & the surgeons from across the world that we spoke to in the course of developing the work.

We’ll be putting together a full case study of this epic project soon(ish), but for now we just wanted to share a little peek into the work and thank everyone at the college for having us - we’ve leant a lot on this one, including the fact that Graeme is far too squeamish to tour a whole surgical museum without having to run to get a Greggs sausage roll and a can of Irn Bru due to feeling faint (think it was the body parts in jars exhibition that did it!).
