Serving 3. The Mick Cooke Lunch Club Society.
We’re back. After a bit of a break due to covid doing the rounds at Jamhot we thought we would get a wee lunch club session in before the summer holiday period. And we couldn’t think of a better guest than the one and only Andrew Nicolson.
Drew is an amazing designer and also one of the very finest human beings you could hope to meet. As well as being our friend, he has a very special place in the history of Jamhot as he created the homepage animation for the first Jamhot website - kicking off a tradition of homepage animations that continues to this day.
First up, the important details.
Jamie sent his apologies, as he’s off on holiday. Craig apologised for operating at half speed as he’s still not really feeling well after being off. Other apologies were made as we still have not sorted out the badges / stickers that we said we would. Maybe we’ll sort this soon. Maybe we won’t.
Lunch wise, Craig bought himself soup and a roll from Henry Healys. Good value standards. Drew had a Coronation Chicken baguette from Piece. Graeme had a pork sandwich from Piece, and also a carrot & curry soup which he wasn’t too keen on.
Drew brought up a very welcome gift of luxury chocolate chip cookie biscuits which we enjoyed with a coffee. There was sadly no juice of the day, Graeme forgot to go to the shops to get some.
The chat was lively and wide ranging.
From ten pin bowling techniques, The Big Lebowiski, public speaking, ethics in design, Star Wars chat and a review of recent gigs attended.
It was a very good lunch. We enjoyed it a lot. Thanks to Drew for taking the time to visit us. We agreed we might do it again and perhaps could go for a pint instead of lunch. This may violate lunch club rules, so we might need to consult Mick before agreeing to that.
In other related news, the actual Mick Cooke almost made an appearance again last week, but sadly we had some client presentations to attend to in the studio. This is promising though, the founder shall return - of this we are sure.
We’ll be back for lunch club 4 after the summer break. When we’ll hopefully pick up the pace and have them more regularly.
